| Each year for the past four years, Stone Soup Books (and Cafe) has sponsored a "Hunger Stew Off" to raise proceeds for the Disciples Kitchen. In 2011, we were thrilled to receive a check for $1,021.76 from Stone Soup - the highest amount raised, yet.
Co-owner Mary Katharine Froehlich announced in an email to Disciples Kitchen Board members, "I am excited to say that we WAY
Surpassed previous year's STEW OFF this year. We hit $1021.76!!!!!! We had a few expenses that
were not donated but to get over that $1000 mark, Stone Soup threw those in as
donation as well! That equates to 25 Gallons of Stone Soup and it was all sold. So great to see that the word
we got out this year really helped and I heard from so many folks this is
something their church supports - from a lot of different churches ... a big thank you to all of you! Wow!"
We'd like to add our thanks to all of the volunteers and donors who made this year's Stew Off so successful ... and a SPECIAL "THANK YOU" to Stone Soup Books for their generosity and hard work. What a blessing you all are to us!
