We had our Annual Teams & Coordinators Meeting on November 10, 2011. Various representatives from the volunteer service teams attended to discuss current issues relevant to Disciples Kitchen, as well as present and future needs. Board members gave reports on activities to-date for 2011, as well as the current budget, financial projections for 2012 and more.
Meeting attendees broke into groups to discuss what we see as the continued mission and needs of Disciples Kitchen, the people we serve and the greater community. Board member Jerry Campbell was designated to head up a Needs Assessment Committee. People interested in serving on this committee are encouraged to email Jerry at highlandcounty@aol.com.

60+ Volunteers Attend BUMC Breakfast Training
We were thrilled with the turnout at the volunteer training held at Basic United Methodist Church (BUMC) on February 5th. 62 people registered for the Saturday morning session, which included an introduction to the Disciples Kitchen, its Policies, the new Breakfast schedule and information, as well as break-out sessions on Fire Safety, Food Service & Sanitation, First Aid, and Security. Afterward, those interested in serving as Monitors met for a brief training session.
A special "Thank You" goes to the following individuals who lead the break-out sessions:
- Officer Paul Witmer, Waynesboro Fire Department
- Laura Bon Cash, Stone Soup Books & Cafe
- Matt Cowherd, EMT-E, Waynesboro First aid Crew
- Officer Mark Kearney, Waynesboro Police Dept.
If you are interested in serving as a volunteer for the Disciples Kitchen lunch or breakfast schedules, please review the "How You Can Help" section or feel free to contact us. If you would like to make a donation, we now accept credit card donations through Pay Pal.
